How to buy Bitcoin in the U.K.

Image
Welcome back 😊 So to recap... In my previous posts I talk about my reasons for starting the Bitcoin Unicorn blog and explain what Bitcoin is. The next step I took after doing my research, was to buy some Bitcoin. I say some, because at the time of purchase (13th November 2017) a whole Bitcoin would have cost me £4563.00. Which by the way has gone up to £7262.00 (as of 27th November 2017) You don't have to buy a whole Bitcoin, instead like me, you can buy a fraction of a Bitcoin. A Bitcoin can be broken down to 8 decimal places.  These fractions are called Satoshi's, named after the  creator of Bitcoin, which is cute! 🤗 1 Satoshi = 0.00000001 Bitcoin 1 Bitcoin = 100,000,000 Satoshi  Bitcoin at the moment is gaining popularity everywhere, but it seems most people online talking about Bitcoin are in the U.S. So when it came to buying Bitcoin some of the recommended exchanges were not available here in the U.K. After a l ittle more research, I found s

Bitcoin Explained

I discovered Bitcoin earlier this year,  by accident! It took me a while to get my head around it at first, as it was a complete unknown entity to me. But I persevered as I  thought I should at least understand what it's all about. I am not a tech person and so it really did take me a while to understand 'Bitcoin' what it is, what it does and what it means. So this is what I found out... Bitcoin is a form of Digital Currency.  It is Decentralised , meaning there is no third party (i.e. Bank)  involvement in your Bitcoin transactions.  It is a   Peer to Peer transaction, person to person, basically like cash! But on the internet!!  Unlike cash, there will only ever be a maximum of 21 Million Bitcoins created. Bitcoins are created by  Mining . People who mine have special equipment and are the ones responsible for confirming transactions on the Blockchain* and creating new Blocks** Anyone with an internet connection and the equipment can mine. * Blockc

Bitcoin Discovery

Welcome and thank you for reading my blog 😊 I am new to Bitcoin, but since I discovered it, I have not stopped researching it, wanting to find out more about this magical decentralised currency. I felt like I had just found the future! I also felt like everyone already knew about it but me, so I had a lot of catching up to do!  That being said, in my opinion the potential of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies are no where near reached yet. So although I would not call myself an early adopter, I have a feeling there will be many more people wanting to join in this mind blowing, world changing journey that is Cryptocurrency. Ok so I know I sound way too enthusiastic, but seriously so many more people are using/investing in Bitcoin now, along with the news of CME's Bitcoin Futures to start trading as soon as 11th December 2017! This is HUGE and I am excited to be a part (even just a small part) of such a fast growing innovative space. This blog
